New Courts - Funding secured

New Courts Update

We are delighted to be able to confirm that we have reached the target required to fund our new courts. Sport England has confirmed a £25k grant which means we have the £131k we require to be able to commission our project. This amount will deliver two new courts (one with floodlights), resurfacing of the two existing courts, installing a digital gate and improving access.

Duncan Smith, Chair, KBS Tennis has said in making this announcement:

‘I am delighted that we have secured the funding we require, and we can focus on delivering this exciting improvement to our tennis facilities. Our development will provide a high-quality, sustainable tennis venue in the heart of our community.

I would like to thank everyone in the Club who has worked hard to enable us to reach this point. I would like also to thank all the external organisations who have supported us on our journey; the Village Hall Committee, Parish Council, KBS News and the Vale of White Horse District Council.

We must ensure we deliver this project to budget and realise the benefits in terms of increasing tennis participation, and the range of tennis activities we offer.

However, whilst announcing this good news, I am aware these are exceptional times. Members are anxious about their health, and that of their families, and in some cases, their livelihoods. On behalf of the Management Committee, we wish you all well, remain safe and we hope to see you on court soon.’

The next stage of our project is to draw-up the detailed works specification and invite bids from suitably qualified companies that can build our new courts. Further information will be released next month.
