Winter 2011/2012 fixtures have been announced. The final list is here. Gillian will be adding them to the calendar shortly.

The courts have been booked, and so the committee is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2011-12 season.
On Monday 8th August our club coach, Andy Aitken, will be trying to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Continuous Singles Tennis Match’, with the current record currently standing at just under 61 hours.
He is raising money for the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust which supports disability’s in tennis.
The attempt will take place on Monday 8th August all the way to Thursday 11th August.
The aim is to raise £20,000; a huge target!
Andy, and his partner Ryan, have had lots of coverage including features on BBC Radio Oxford and The Oxford Times (read the story).

After what feels like a long winter, March has run its course rather quickly and so it’s the time of year to renew tennis club membership.
The good news is that the new committee has held fees for 2011/12 at the 2010/11 level, so the club is even better inflation-busting value than it already was!

This is the form to complete if you’d like to enter the club tournament. Full details and categories are on the form.
Copies of these forms will also be made available in the club house as of the evening of Tuesday 22 March.
Please complete as soon as you possibly can; with the changes to the committee we’re a bit slow sending out the forms. I’m sure that Keith and Linda will be looking forward to flood of cheques (or cash) over the next few days!

As of 1st March, we are trialling the use of an online court booking system.

Hopefully this will make booking courts easier, encouraging members to play. It should also make cancelling bookings easier too, as you won’t have to visit the club house. And finally, it saves having to use lots of paper!

All fixtures are 1.30pm start.
Rules for 2011 say you must all play 3 sets in the second rubber this season – it is no longer OK to agree to a tiebreak instead of a full third set.
Club members are cordially invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of KBS Tennis Club to be held at 8.00pm on Wednesday, 2 February 2011, in the Village Hall “Swallow Room”. (Entrance via side door nearest courts.)
Unfortunately, the club did not escape the extreme cold spell recently and our pipework sprang multiple leaks which took our valiant plumber, Dominic Rowland, some four hours to repair. Many thanks to him for responding so quickly and getting the water put back on in good time for the start of the new term.
